History of Owerri Owerri was founded about the 14th century by a man regarded as founding father and his name is Ekwem Oha. His mother's name was Arugo. He fled from Umuori Village, Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State when his life was threatened by his younger brother Ndum. The lack of men likely led the  kings of Dahomey  to recruit women into the army. King  Houegbadja  (who ruled from 1645 to 1685), the third King of  Dahomey ...

It is home to the Agulu Lake.  Agulu Lake is one of the nicest scenes to behold in Agulu, Anambra state with the water stretching as far as the eyes can see. It is clean clear most times but changes to green from algae depending on the season of the year. History of this Lake: In olden days, an elderly man in search of settlement went to Adazi-Nnukwu another town in Anambra state and asked the elders for a land to settle in. In the olden days’ land was not a commodity but freely shared and given. The stranger dismissed the idea, touched his white bears and washed his hands with the water that flowed out. The elders gave him the evil ...
