The Fulani War of 1804–1808

The Fulani War of 1804–1808, also known as the Fulani Jihad or Jihad of Usman dan Fodio, was a military conflict in present-day Nigeria and Cameroon. The war began when Usman dan Fodio, a prominent Islamic scholar and teacher, was exiled from Gobir by the King Yunfa, one of his former students. Usman dan Fodio assembled a Fulani army to lead in jihad against the Hausa kingdoms of the north of Nigeria. The forces of Usman dan Fodio slowly took over more and more of the Hausa kingdoms, capturing Gobir in 1808 and executing Yunfa. The war resulted in the creation of the Sokoto Caliphate, headed by Usman dan Fodio, which became one of the largest states in Africa in the 19th century. His success inspired similar jihads in Western Africa.

Oguta Lake: The Mysterious Lake in Imo State.  Oguta Lake is a lean 'finger lake' formed by the damming of the lower Njaba River with alluvium which consists of clay, sand and also silt. It is the largest natural lake in Imo State, Southeastern Nigeria; within the equatorial rainforest region of Niger Delta.  The lake is 8.05km long and 2.41km wide. The History of Sarkin Muhammad Rumfa

Muhammad Dan Yakubu,  known as  Muhammad Rumfa  was the  Sultan  of  Kano  from 1463 until 1499. His reign was characterized by wealth and opulence and signaled the rise of the Sultanate's commercial dominance in the region. Under the guidance of famed Berber Scholar,  Muhammad Al-Maghili , he was also responsible for much of the  Islamization  of Kano. In total, the Kano Chronicle attributed twelve innovations to him including; extending the city walls, building a large palace, the  Gidan Rumfa , promoting slaves to governmental positions and establishing the  Kurmi Market . Rumfa's reforms also proved to be the catalyst that would propel Kano to its political peak, resulting in the first Kanoan Empire under his grandson  Muhammad Kisoki .
